A Message from Ian Hobson, Music Director and Conductor

Dear Sinfonia da Camera patron,

After this long year and a half, what a pleasure it is to welcome you back to our 38th season!

We open with the great 5th symphony of Beethoven and the scintillating Paganini Rhapsody by Rachmaninov. We herald the Spring with Schubert and Mendelssohn, and we conclude with two great works of Hindemith and Bartók. We showcase three sides of Camille Saint-Saëns in Smith Hall: Danse Macabre, the Carnival of the Animals (with Ogden Nash’s witty poems), and the thrilling Organ Symphony. We are delighted to offer two Sinfonia Plus concerts featuring School of Music soloists and symphonies of Tchaikovsky and Brahms, also in the beautifully refurbished Smith Memorial Hall.

Please join me and the orchestra for the celebration of great music in person!
