Music Director Ian Hobson and Sinfonia da Camera set sail on their 31st season, and music lovers young and old should be excited! Sinfonia’s Rush Hour concert returns and showcases the winners of the orchestra’s first Student Concerto Competition, and Richard Strauss’ 150th birth year is celebrated with some of the composer’s most captivating works. The famed concert pianist Menahem Pressler joins the orchestra for an all-Mozart program, the holiday season is inaugurated with a large-scale performance of Handel’s Messiah, and audiences are treated to a world première cello concerto by University of Illinois faculty member Carlos Carrillo. To end the season, Ian Hobson astounds as both pianist and conductor in Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2
